Federation for A Competitive Economy

Based on Kania and Kramer’s (2011) Collective Impact, FACE emphasizes the model that
organizations and individual stakeholders can no longer operate as separate entities expecting
to affect wide-scale change. The Inland Empire must come together through the long-term
commitment of our region’s leaders, educational practitioners and the community to create a
common agenda for educational reform that has agreed upon indicators, measurement system
and mutually reinforcing activities. Through ongoing communication and collaboration, the efforts
of the FACE initiative serve as the foundation for systemic change in the region.
In collaboration with the Inland Empire Economic Partnership (IEEP), FACE has formed a regional
Education Council. With representatives from the areas post-secondary institutions and the County
Offices of Education, the Education Council provides the leadership and direction for educational
reform. The Council has adopted three initiatives: College and Career Readiness, STEM Education
and a regional Communication Network.
