Letter from the Executive Director

Dear Colleagues:

Welcome back everyone for the 2014-15 academic year! Already the months ahead are shaping up to be very productive!

The region is coming to together under the leadership of CSU San Bernardino and UC Riverside to submit an application for the Governor’s Innovation Award. The goal of the Award is to highlight and support best-practices that improve 4-year graduation rates, the time to degree completion and community college transfer rates.

Many of the collaborative efforts in the region place the Inland Empire in a unique position for a successful application: San Bernardino County’s Cradle to Career, the City of Riverside’s Seizing Our Destiny, San Bernardino Superintendent of School’s Alliance for Education, the STEP Conference, our region’s commitment to AVID-- to name just a few.

Additionally, the Inland Empire Economic Partnership (IEEP) is taking an active role in facilitating the region’s submission of the Award application. Having traveled to Sacramento to deliver comments to the Innovation Award Committee on the importance this funding to the Inland Empire, IEEP’s CEO Paul Granillo, brings the support of area business leaders to our application.

The Inland region is truly setting the standard for working together to improve educational outcomes, economic vitality and the quality of life for ALL in the community.
